Terms.

In one sentence
Use Ascolio for your own personal coaching, record only people who consent to being recorded, do not abuse the service, and understand that AI is not a therapist or lawyer.
The agreement
By installing or using Ascolio you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. The service is provided by Ascolio Inc. (Delaware, USA).
Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU) and able to form a binding agreement under your local law. If you are using Ascolio on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.
Recording other people
You are responsible for any consent required to record a conversation in your jurisdiction. Recording laws vary widely. Some places allow one-party consent (you alone consenting is enough); others require all-party consent. Ascolio does not know where you are or who is in the room with you, so this is on you. We recommend telling the other person plainly: "I’m using an AI app to review this conversation later — only the transcript leaves my phone."
If a recording later turns out to violate a law or another person’s rights, you indemnify Ascolio Inc. against claims arising from your recording. (See indemnification below.)
What Ascolio is not
- Not therapy. Ascolio is a reflective tool, not a licensed mental-health service. If you are in crisis, contact a real human.
- Not legal advice. The app may identify communication patterns it labels with terms like "gaslighting" or "DARVO." These are observations, not legal findings, and should not be used in court without professional review.
- Not a court of fact. Transcription and analysis are AI-generated and can be wrong. The app shows verbatim quotes and timestamps so you can verify against the original recording yourself.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Record people who have not consented where consent is required
- Use Ascolio to harass, surveil, or harm any person
- Reverse-engineer or attempt to extract our backend API keys
- Use the service to violate any law in your jurisdiction
- Resell, white-label, or commercially redistribute the app
Violations may result in your access being suspended or terminated. We will tell you why.
Pricing, free tier, and refunds
Free tier includes a monthly cap on Claude analyses (currently 5/month). Recording and on-device transcription are unrestricted. Pro upgrades remove the analysis cap and unlock Claude Sonnet for deeper reasoning. Pricing is visible in-app before purchase.
All purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) and are subject to their refund policies. We do not control refund decisions.
Your content, your rights
You retain ownership of all recordings, transcripts, and insights generated in the app. We do not claim any license to them. We do not use them to train models. See the Privacy Policy for the precise data flow.
Service availability
We try to keep the backend (api.ascolio.com) up at all times, but we make no uptime guarantee. The backend is required for cloud-based analysis (Claude) and search (Voyage); on-device features like recording, local transcription, and reading existing data continue to work offline.
Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ascolio Inc. disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Our maximum aggregate liability for any claim related to the service is the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow this limitation; in those places it applies only to the extent permitted.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify Ascolio Inc. against third-party claims arising from (a) your recordings of others, (b) your violation of these terms, or (c) your violation of any law. We will handle our own legal fees if we are clearly at fault.
Termination
You can stop using Ascolio at any time by deleting the app. We may terminate access for material breach of these terms, with notice where reasonable. Sections that should survive termination — IP, indemnification, liability limits — do.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, except where applicable consumer-protection law provides otherwise.
Changes
We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced in-app before they take effect, with at least 14 days’ notice where feasible. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new terms.
